Her Dog

Continuing with my domestic animal theme...

The girlfriends got one of these dogs that likes to bark.The other night I'm over at her place and were watching tv when theres a knock at the door.Its officer friendly,apparently the gf's dog barks all day whilst shes away at work.The neighbors dont dig her dog much and had complained to the local authorities.So she keeps the dog locked up in her garage for a couple days while shes at work.On Friday night she comes out to my palacial pad to watch movies and spend the night.She brings the dog.Thats fine with me,cant keep the thing locked in the garage 24 hours a day.Again the pooping thing.

Anyways,to condense this saga,the dog barks all night,Im talking,yap yap ayap yap ayp ayap.We hit the hay early around 10.About 1 in the morn I'd had enough of her dog.About the time Id fall asleep the dog would start with the yapping.I get up out of bed,offer to shoot the dog,regretably i'm sure,she declines my offer of doggy youthanasia(sic).So i go out,grab the dog by the collar and drag her the sixty yards out to the shed out back and chain her to a barn pole where she spent the evening out of earshot of us.

Now the GF has gone to the Shocking Collar! to try a little doggy behavior modification treatment.Its like shes nurse Ratchet to the doggys Jack N.It seems to work...yet it doesnt shock the hell out of the lil bugger like I want it too.It just produces a quizical look on her face and a bit of discomfert.Time will tell.

Either spend more time with it..or get it a new home..the majority of dog's bark for a two simple reasons..they want attention..of any kind..good or bad or they are bored..sometimes playing with it for a little while..then leaving it with several toys will work..sometimes giving it a one of those treat balls works..it occupies their lil doggy minds..and gives then something to do other than dwell on their being alone alot..after raising boxers all my life..i can tell you now..ive been thru it all.. [img]tongue.gif[/img] ..but chaining it..or locking it in a garage will only make it worse...not to mention the shocking coller..*cringes*..i realize some places you have to keep the dog confined either on a chain..or inside..what ive found it to make it like a playroom of sorts..i know it sounds silly..but the more things a dog has to do..the less he thinks on making mischeif...give him or her lots of running and jumping time off the chain or leash if you can find a place with a fence or something..sorry if i sound unkind..i by no means want you to think that...just thought a few ideas might help you get a goodnights sleep.. [img]biggrin.gif[/img] ..all that from a doggy who drove me nuts at first..cant you see the meanness in those eyes..

i think another reason is the environment the
dog may be in. due to my situation, i believe
my dog barked because he just couldn't see through
the wooden fence... and he heard commotions...

Funny you should mention that..I used to shut my pup in the bathroom when i had to leave him..he tore up things ..barked..so i decided one day to leave him in the spare bedroom..there was a nice window looking out at the road..do you know..i never had another problem with him..he went in there every morning when i left for work...my neighbors said it was so funny to drive by and see him sitting in front of the window..watching the world go by..i dont think he ever left it the whole time i was gone..he never barked..never tore up anything..just being able to see out made him happy..
